School Pictures

Spencer is 5, and he made the cut-off for kindergarden by like 3 days. However, everything we have heard since he was born, is that boys do better if they are older in their class, rather than younger. He would be THE youngest in his class, all growing up, if we would have put him in kindergarten this year, so we decided to wait. So he is in "pre-kindergarten," not to be confused with "pre-school" (according to Spencer). Anyway, he is LOVING school and is learning so much. He is even starting to read, which is so exciting, and so cute!

He draws or paints almost everyday, and I have just been so impressed with his artwork, and maybe more impressed by the things he is learning. His teacher tells me that he is doing great and that he catches on so quickly! Yes, I am a proud mom, and Dave is certainly a proud dad.

They learned a lot about spiders, and since then, whenever he sees a spider he says "Look mom! An arachnid!"

The Solar System. I guess Pluto isn't a planet anymore? Seriously, evidently it's considered a "planetoid" now.

This month they have been learning Christmas songs for their Christmas program. I am not kidding when I say that I have been waiting for this Christmas program since this kid was born! I am SO excited!!! He comes home singing and humming Christmas songs, and I love it. I even turned on the Christmas music station on the radio today...which is unlike me, because I usually wait until at least after Thanksgiving =).

Random Story I have to share:

On a completely different subject...A couple of weeks ago, Dave decided not to eat meat for a few weeks. Honestly, I'm not totally sure why. I think it's mostly an experiement. Who knows with that guy? Anyway, Dave explained to Spencer that he's trying not to eat meat for a while, because he feels like he eats too much meat. A few days ago, we were at Barnes and Noble, and we got some hot chocolate. I asked Spencer if he wanted his own, or if he was okay sharing with us. He said, "Hmmm, I think I'm trying to not drink hot chocolate for a while. So I won't have any now. I've had too much hot chocolate." (Uh, he hasn't had hot chocolate since probably last winter!)

Halloween

Halloween 2010 was a big success! Spencer got to go trick or treating 3 times! Once at Dave's office, once at the ward "trunk or treat," and once the old fashioned way - door to door. We have eaten WAY too much candy (my tongue is raw from too many sweets), and Dave even decided to make cookies last night because I guess we weren't fattening up quick enough =). We gotta stay warm for the winter, after all.

Iron Man!

I love this pose. He has actually been wearing this almost every day since the costume came in the mail 2 months ago. We sure have gotten our money's worth out of this one!

Dave went to work in Spencer's Viking gear. The helmet was way too small...so he just balanced it on top of his head all day.

There was a pumpkin carving contest at Dave's work. A couple of people carved Dave's face into pumpkins...this one was pretty awesome. I think our bro-in-law Peter did this one...very impressive!

It's not that I'm getting chubby...

IT'S THAT I'M PREGNANT!!!

You don't know how long I've been waiting to say that! Well, some of you do =). I am 13 weeks along and starting into the 2nd trimester, but really I have been waiting 3 years to say that. We are so thrilled, excited, ecstatic, amazed, THANKFUL, and every other wonderful emotion you can imagine.

I am doing great, and so far the baby is doing great. Weeks 6-11 were sorta cruddy - just regular nausea and exhaustion, but I tried not to complain. Those are good signs in pregnancy. And lately I'm starting to feel better. I am also starting to feel chubby...I do not look pregnant yet, and I've only gained 1 pound, but I'm just in that "pudgy tummy/uncomfortable to button your pants" stage.

I wish I had a picture of Spencer's face when we told him there is a baby in my tummy! It was fantastic. He is SO excited! He wants a baby sister (just like his cousin Chloe - so cute!), and he wants to name the baby "Cutie." That has a nice ring to it, huh? He's always saying things like "Mom, how's your baby doing in your tummy?" or "when the baby comes out, I will be silly to it, and make it laugh." He loves babies, and just cannot wait.

How many people can say that they have a picture of themselves when they were just 150 cells?

I actually got pregnant through IVF (in-vitro), and this was our 3rd attempt. Third time is the charm, as they say =). They put 2 embryos in (pictured above), but we are only having 1 baby. I think the Dr. and I were the only ones relieved that I wasn't having twins! My parents were actually here when I had my 6 week ultrasound, and both they and Dave were hoping for twins. I mean, I would've taken twins for sure, but I knew it was much higher risk for me (especially since I have Crohn's disease).

Here is the picture of my ultrasound between 11-12 weeks. The ultrasound machine seemed really old, so I'm thinking that's why it just looks like a weird little blob. Some ultrasound pics I see at this stage seem to be a lot more defined. Oh well. (Maybe we should refer to the baby as "the blob" instead of "cutie." I'll run it by Spence.) Anyway, the Dr. said that everything looks great and normal! HALLELUJAH!

Elder Webb

My little brother, the youngest in our family, the only boy, and the first to go on a mission (wow, that was quite the introduction!), got his mission call last week! Elder Kyle Webb will be serving in the San Antionio, Texas mission - Spanish speaking!! He reports to the Missionary Training Center on February 9th. We are all just so excited and proud. I can't believe this time in his life is actually here.

I was thinking about it this week, and realized what this actually means...I will not see him for 2 whole years! I mean, I knew that, but it finally hit me, and I just started crying. Spencer will be so big by the time he gets home! And Spencer, and all the nieces and nephews, are just going to miss him so much too! Part of the reason I got emotional was also that I'm just so proud of him. So pleased that he is excited about this, has been preparing for it, and I know that he will learn and grow so much and be such a great missionary. I know that through him, many lives will be blessed. He is looking forward to these 2 years being the best of his life, and because of that, I'm certain they will be.

Mr. and Mrs. Ainsworth

It's official! Alaina and David are married! August 20th, 2010 was the big day (I know, this post was a long time coming...). We are so happy for the newlyweds, and so glad to add another awesome brother-in-law to the family!

We also had a pretty great celebratory wedding weekend all together. The bride was stunning, the groom was beaming, the kids were adorable. Get ready for a ton of pictures!

One of David's nieces couldn't decide who she liked dancing with better, Spencer or Sam...and we caught it all on camera! (The really good stuff is at the end, sorry!)

This 68 year old can ROCK!

I am totally serious. Sir Paul McCartney (he was knighted, you know), is AWESOME! He came to perform in Utah, for the first time, this summer, and I HAD to go, and I HAD to drag Dave with me! We had such a blast! Dave wasn't so sure at first...for the first 45 min, he was playing "angry birds" on his phone (rude. I hope Sir Paul didn't see). But by the end he was dancing and singing like the rest of the drunk people there! We had such a fun night, and it was SO cool to hear a real Beatle play lots of Beatles songs. Actually, this was my 2nd time seeing a real Beatle. I saw Ringo in concert back in college. He didn't play at a stadium though...he played at Weber State. Oh well.

I have known for a long time that I am a huge Beatles fan, but now I know that I am a huge Paul McCartney fan as well.

I have a 5 year old

My baby is 5 years old. Here is a look at his first 6 birthdays (I'm counting the day he was born here =) ). Have I ever mentioned how much we love this kid? Cause man, we do!

I think we all had fun, and Spencer had a blast, and certainly felt loved! We have amazing friends! We're pretty lucky.
