The Last 3 Weeks

Dave has been in India for work for the last 3 weeks. While he's been away there's been a whole lotta this....

Spencer and Mommy time
There's also been some of this...

Some Grandma Patti, Aunt Becky, and fun cousins time.

Some Grandma Kay time
(not at Disneyland though. It's an old picture...I didn't actually get any pics of family on this last visit...I'm a dork.)

Some Grandpa time (agian, old picture).

Some Uncle Kyle time

Some train time

Some Guitar Hero time.

We are looking forward to...

Some Daddy time!

He gets home in less than 48 hours! Although, the countdown began long ago...

His Newest Obsession...

Microphones!

He is particularly obsessed with microphones at the church building. I think it all began when he was asked to say a scripture in Primary...he's been dreaming of that microphone ever since! But any mic will do, we have two toy mics here at home, and he loves to sing into them and then close his eyes and hold out the last note with MUCH gusto. Maybe American Idol has something to do with it too...

In the video, I let him play on the microphone in the primary room at church on weekday, after we exercised there. He really is a good little singer. I'm not biased or anything though.

Picture Tag!

6th folder, 6th picture

Spence rocking out in our hot tub last summer. There is a hilarious video of him dancing in the hot tub (same day this pic was taken) on my facbook page. For some reason I've never been able to get it to download here. Anyway, I love his huge smile. He's just having so much fun!

I now pronounce...Mary, Laura, Jill, Jessie, Melody, Melanie, Leslie, and Delayne...tagged.

Deep Thoughts (by Jack Handey)

"If trees could scream, would we be so cavalier about cutting them down? We might, if they screamed all the time, for no good reason."

"Laurie got offended that I used the word 'puke.' But to me, that's what her dinner tasted like."

"I think in one of my previous lives I was a mighty king, because I like people to do what I say."

I heart flip flops

I was at Target the other day, minding my own business, and saw something I couldn't resist:

Super cute flip flops!!

Is it Spring yet?? I am so excited to wear these! I just have to paint my toe nails first...

(Oh, I heart Target too.)

Potty Training!!

After, seriously, months of trying to potty train (off and on)...Spencer is finally doing it! He's not done, but we are actively and happily working on it! We had been telling him for a month that as soon as he "went" on the potty, we would take him to the dinosaur museum. He talked about that all the time...but that's all it was - talk. Up until this past week, he would sit on the potty for HOURS and just hold it, and as soon as I would put a diaper on him, it was full. I was glad to know he could hold it...but extremely irritated that he would do so for so long. I'm not sure what finally clicked, but this last Tuesday he sat on the big potty (we had previously been encouraging his little potty chair), and just went #1 (I will keep it to numbers, as not to offend). I was giddy! Oh the things that make you happy when you are a mother! He is also very excited and proud of himself. Anyway, he's been going #1 ever since, he is wearing underwear and keeping it dry, and he often even realizes when he has to go, and goes and sits on the potty - all by himself!

We have yet to see a #2. He does NOT want to sit on the potty for #2. I'm not sure what to do about that. I feel like I don't want to force him too hard, plus I just want to enjoy what he's already accomplished. Any ideas or advice about #2??

What a proud big boy! He's really growing up!

Spence-a-saurous

Spencer LOVES dinosaurs! He knows the names, he can do the sounds, he can walk like them...it's pretty awesome (see video below). As a result, I am learning quite a bit about dinosaurs as well...more than I ever thought I would want to know =). His favorite dinosaur is the ferocious T-Rex - he always likes the scary things - t-rexes, sharks, snakes...what is going on here? Oh the things I'm learning about the male species.

I have talked about the Dinosaur Museum (up at Thanksgiving Point) a couple of times, and how Spencer asks to go there almost every day...that and Disneyland. When he FINALLY did something on the potty, we took him the dinosaur museum to celebrate!

Spencer and his precious T-Rex.
Family pic at the beloved Dinosaur Museum, at a VERY special celebration!

Does anyone know the name of the dinosaur behind us? Spencer does. What a genious.

There are all sorts of fun activities. Dave had to get in on the action.

Digging for bones.
On a completely different subject...Spencer LOVES to take pictures. These last two he took of Dave and I at the museum.

First, our feet...

Then, a pretty good one! Except for Dave's cheesey smile, I think this one turned out pretty good! Way to go Spence!

Here is the video of Spencer and his pre-historic friends. It's almost a minute long (I usually try to keep things shorter than that, cause let's face it, I know I have a short attention span...), but the end is worth it. He does a pretty good T-Rex impression!
