I can't believe I forgot this one...!

"Wild Hearts Can't be Broken" - I LOVE this movie, I am ashamed I forgot to put in on my previous list. This has got to be one of my all time favorites, it is based on a TRUE story (love those true stories), and I always think of one of my best friends, Jill, when I think of this movie - such good times =). Plus, the guy in it is also Jake Ryan from "16 Candles"...soooo hot! If you have not seen this movie, I am telling you - you should! You will thank me.

Movie Nostalgia

The following is a list of favorite movies from my adolescence. I loved them and watched them over and over again, in the way that teenage girls often do. They were the entertainment for many a slumber party. Their love stories a frequent topic of gushy girl talk. Their fashion was the subject of much...well, usually ridicule...but teenage girls love to ridicule! They played an integral role in shaping the person I am today. Ok, it's not that deep...but seriously, what fun, fond memories I have of these movies, and I still continue to enjoy their simple and carefree entertainment. Ahh, how lucky I am to have grown up in the 80's and 90's!

What were some of your favorite movies as a youth?

"The Princess Bride" - I'm mormon, aren't I? Side note - I did not realize this movie was a comedy until I was in college.

"Girls Just Want to Have Fun" - Need I say more?

"Don't Tell Mom the Babysitter's Dead" - It sounds morbid, but such a great movie. I doubt it did very well in the theaters, but it's a classic in my book.

"The Cutting Edge" - Spoiled figure skater + rough around the edges hockey player = awesome.

"Overboard" - I watched this movie for about 2 weeks straight one summer vacation at my Grandma's house in Idaho. I love Goldie Hawn.

"Troop Beverly Hills" - A favorite of the Webb sisters. Such a great underdog story.

"Mannequin" - So 80's, so great.

"Some Kind of Wonderful" - Miss Amanda Jones. Populars vs. Nerds. Realizing the one you secretly love, loves you in return...EEEEEEEKKK!! (that was a squeal of excitment)

3 Year Olds' Law

Whatever toy(s) a parent is trying to put away is the toy that suddenly must be played with.

Doors must always be closed loudly.

Toppings on pizza are disgusting (ie, cheese, pepperioni, olives…), but the 2 month old chip from under the couch is delicious.

When taking turns, count to 10 or 20 for each turn.

A funny face is a fundamental part of every picture.

Doritos are a successful bribe in most every situation. They work particularly well for getting a 3 year old to sit in a shopping cart at the grocery store.

If a parent asks a 3 year old to say or do something cute to show off for someone else, the 3 year old is suddenly shy, or says or does something completely different than what was asked.

A parent’s bad habits will be copied immediately, but good habits take quite a bit of time and coercion to pass on.

Snow is to be thrown and stomped in and eaten at every opportunity.

Goodnight kisses are required, and given freely in return.

More conversations with a 3 year old

I know I just posted some stuff like this...but like I said, I need to write these things down for posterity (or type them, I guess), or I'll just forget them. Plus, I also need to write them down for my mom, who I know gets a kick out of them as much as I do =).

A couple of weeks ago Spencer had just gotten out of bed and we were walking down the stairs. At the bottom of the stairs was a huge pile of shoes and clothes I was too lazy to bring upstairs the night before.
Spencer: "Oh! Ohhh no! Uh-oh..."
Me: "What? What?!"
Spencer: "You made a BIG mess!"

The other night we were looking through a book of animals, and repeating what each animal says. ie - cow says moo, etc.
Spencer: "A cockatoo says, 'Hi Spencer!"

Just yesterday...
Me: "What would you like for breakfast?"
Spencer: "Choo-choo Soul" (that's a music group on Playhouse Disney)
Me: "Ok, here is your choo-choo soul..." (as I grab a box of cereal)
Spencer: "Raisin bran?! That's not choo-choo soul, that's raisin bran, mom!"

A few weeks ago, there were a number of days in a row that the first thing Spencer would say when he woke up was, "Please can we go to dinosaur 'seum today? Please mommy, please?" What a little sweetie. But no, we did not go all of those days...I don't think we went any of those days. Sorry Spence!

Christmas 2008

So much anticipation and now Christmas 2008 is over - and has been for over a week - I can't believe it! I can't believe it's 2009 either - but that's another whole story =).

This year we spent 4 days at a cabin in Heber with the Batemans. It was marvelous! (Saying it was a cabin is a bit decieving, it was not rustic at all, it was a huge beautiful house...but we were up in the mountains with a TON of snow in a cabin like setting.) We had lots of good food, good fun, and great company. Spencer was on cloud nine with so many fun cousins, aunts and uncles, and grandparents. He especially had fun ordering uncle Bobby around. There was a huge love sac that Bobby would throw Spencer onto, and so that's what Spencer wanted to do like 80% of the week! Thanks Bob for a nice break!

I am not a good picture taker, and the only pics we got were of Christmas morning. Which is one of the best parts of course, but I wish I would've captured more of the week. Anyway, here they are =).

MERRY CHRISTMAS!

Savannah and Audrey got up at like 5:30 am! What patient little sweethearts to wait until close to 8am to wake us up...actually, I'm a dork and can't remember what time we woke up, but I know they waited a LONG time!

We got Dave's dad a "Cowboy Chuck Wagon Cookbook." His name is Chuck and he thinks he's still a cowboy =). He's not a bad cook though!

Our gift to Dave's mom. I was proud of it cause I made it!
