I am a Child of God

Here is an interesting rendition of "I am a Child of God," but it's pretty much my favorite rendition now =). Listen for the part about "with parents kind and dear" as it has been changed to "with parents like daddy." What a gyp! Oh also, he is trying to speed through it so he can hold the camera and watch himself =).

Copycat

If you ever want to know what you sound like, just listen to your 2, almost 3, year old. Yesterday I saw Spencer with my cell phone up to his ear and he said: "Hello? Howa you? Uh-huh. Yes. Yes. Uh-huh. Talk t'you latah. Bye!" Then he hung up the phone. I guess that's pretty much the gist of some of my phone conversations!

In some exciting news from the Bateman's world...Dave is on the cover of another magazine! How crazy is that? "Entrepreneur" magazine featured Property Solutions (Dave's software business) in an article about raising capital for their August 2008 issue. Dave was interviewed for the article, and then he and his cohorts, aka business partners - John Hanna, and Ben Zimmer - were asked to participate in a little photo shoot...but they had no idea they'd end up on the cover! Plus, his part of the article is so short, they were surprised to have their pictures taken at all.

This makes a total of 2 magazine covers for Dave and Ben. They were featured in "Fortune Small Business" in October 2003 for winning the magazine's national MBA business plan competition.

When will I be on the cover of a magazine? I am assuming the answer to that is, never. Oh well... I was in a commercial for the Chico Mall once (barely), and in a Seminary movie...that's a little bit cool...or something...maybe? But I am very proud and thrilled about this, and about the success that Property Solutions is having. These guys have certainly worked hard enough to deserve it.

Lost Slide Show!

I don't know what happened, but when I changed my template, it erased my slide show and my list of friends blogs =(. Now it won't let me put the slide show back in. I realize I will probably have to put the blog addresses back in myself, but does anyone have any ideas of how to fix the slide show problem? Cool, thanks.

4th of July

Because I've been out of it for so long, I have a lot of catching up to do, 'cause a lot has happened the last few weeks! So this will be the first catch up post (well, first after the surgery explanation post)...hopefully more will follow in the next couple of days.

Here are a couple of pics from the 4th. Dave and Spence went to the parade, I was not feeling well so I went back to bed instead of going to the parade (2 days later I would find out why I wasn't feeling so well!). They enjoyed the parade, although Dave said that Spence wasn't too sure at first, but he came home waving a little American flag, so I think it turned out to be a sucess. The rest of the day was spent cleaning and organizing our bedroom, making piles of stuff to bring to DI, and hanging much needed curtains in Spencer's room (which have really helped, he sleeps until at least 8 am everyday now - way more tolerable than 6:30am!) That night, of course, we went to see fireworks! Fireworks are one of my favorite things in the whole world! We all enjoyed them very much, Spencer loves fireworks too and talked about them all week.


Dave and Spencer were pooped after the parade and a dip in the "not so hot" tub. (We haven't heated it during the summer.) Spencer put Dave's hat on and then fell asleep. So cute!

Surgery

I have been out of commission for the last couple of weeks (hence the lack of blogging) due to people cutting me open and taking my right fallopian tube out of my body. That’s right. It sucked. Good thing for anesthesia though! I had an ectopic pregnancy (where the fertilized egg attaches itself in the fallopian tube instead of making it to the uterus), and my tube ruptured, so I had to have the tube removed.

It all happened Sunday, July 6th. I had been having bad stomach pains during the week, but they would usually go away after an hour or so. However, Sunday, after I sat down from giving a lesson in Relief Society, I started having even worse pains. We decided to go to the ER after a couple of hours of pain and when I started feeling faint. By the time we got there Dave had to carry me in because I couldn’t walk, I was so faint. (Good thing he’s so manly.) Anyway, they checked me out and found the ruptured tube on the right side, and a large (tangerine sized) cyst on the left side. They had nothing to do with each other, I just have such great luck. I was wheeled off to the operating room within a few hours of arriving at the hospital. This was my first surgery…hopefully the last!

Everything went well. Between my mom and Dave’s mom, I have been well taken care of for the last few weeks, and Spencer has been well taken care of thanks to my brother Kyle, and sister-in-law Amanda. Thank you so much to my mom, Patti, Kyle, and Amanda; they helped make the last couple of weeks very restful and comfortable for me – they were wonderful. This week I am feeling much better, almost back to normal. I still feel a bit of discomfort, and I’m still swollen – which means my normal pants don’t fit, and I’m wearing maternity pants – thanks a lot! But I’m getting back into my normal routine which feels good. The very good news is that the doctors tell me that all of this really doesn’t affect my chances of having another normal pregnancy – yay!

But it is a little bit weird knowing that I have been cut open, and a part of my body - even though it is so small, and I’ll barely miss it – is now gone. Just weird.

So, sorry for the long post. And I hope I didn’t sound like “wo is me” or anything, I just thought I would share, because that’s what blogging is all about. Also, I would like to say Thank You – sooo much – for all of the love and prayers that have been sent my way, not to mention phone calls, flowers, cards, and meals. I am so blessed to have so many wonderful people in my life who care about me so much.

Spencer Thoughts...

Spencer is starting to talk really well, and saying some pretty darn funny things. He even tries to say funny things on purpose - it's so great! The other day he had just woken up from a nap, and I was changing a pretty foul diaper (his, of course). I hadn't even said much about it when he yelled:

"HONEY! THAT IS A VERY STINKY POOPY!"

I laughed so hard, and he laughed so hard too.
