Deep Thoughts

"To me, truth is not some vague, foggy notion. Truth is real. And, at the same time, unreal. Fiction and fact and everything in between, plus some things I can't remember, all rolled into one big "thing." This is truth, to me."

"Sometimes the beauty of the world is so overwhelming, I just want to throw back my head and gargle. Just gargle and gargle, and I don't care who hears me, because I am beautiful."

"Instead of having "answers" on a math test, they should just call them "impressions," and if you got a different "impression," so what, can't we all be brothers?"

"If you ever discover that what you're seeing is a play within a play, just slow down, take a deep breath, and hold on for the ride of your life."

Alaska

Dave barely even reads "our" blog, let alone writes a post...so it is up to me to blog about his trip to Alaska =). He and 2 friends from high school, John and Andy, and Andy's father-in-law, spent a whole week together in Alaska. They rented an RV and and went fishing, kayaking, more fishing, and sight seeing. They even saw Sarah Palin's house! Wow.

Now, if you know Dave at all, taking a whole week off of work is UNHEARD of. Seriously, even for Christmas or family vacations, it's 2 or 3 days tops. Plus, he didn't even take his laptop..."NO FLIPPING WAY!", one might say. So I am really glad he did this. He got to spend time with his friends, and do something very manly...something that I may not have enjoyed quite so much. He had a blast and was so happy he went, and he came back with around 50 lbs of fish - salmon, halibut, and cod. I have already had some of the halibut and salmon and they were SO good (and I'm not a huge fish person). Anyway, here are a bunch of pics (a couple of which I stole from John - so thank you, John)...

The whole crew.

My husband is handsome...

BEAUTIFUL...most of what he said when he got back had to do with how beautiful it was there, everywhere.

Fish...gross..

Dave and John in a Kayak. I'm pretty sure this is on the Kenai river.

This is what it looks like outside at 3am. Weird.

I guess in Alaska the cool thing is to ride in a stretch minivan limo...we are really missing out down here. Actually, I'm surprised that's an Alaska thing and not a Utah thing!

I'm pretty sure this is a Grizzly bear with her cubs...(I mean, I know it's a bear with cubs, but I think it's a Grizzly). My biggest fear for Dave on this trip was that he'd get attacked by a bear.

So pretty.

Aww...best friends

Good times in Oregon

A couple of weeks ago, Spencer and I took a little trip to Oregon! Two of my sisters just moved there last month (within 30 minutes of each other). Dave went on a fishing trip to Alaska, so I decided to take a trip of my own. (More details about Alaska to come...)

We had LOTS of fun! All the cousins are adorable, and it was so fun to see them get to know each other. For the first few days, they got along really well. However, by the end I think they were getting a little tired of sharing and stuff...so the number of fights increased. Spencer had quite a few time outs! The little twirp...=)

The whole gang! Mary, Jane, Sammy, Gwenn, Audrey, Laura, and Spencer.

Peek-a-boo!
We stayed with Mary, so there are lots of pics of Sam and Spence together. A dynamic duo, I must say =).

Rocking out at the piano.

We went to the Portland Zoo. Spencer wanted to push a stroller, and Sam was happy to be the passenger.

Don't these two look a little too happy to be up at 6:30 AM?! Too bad I didn't get a picture of my face at this time...it would not be the same emotion...

Audrey...Laura's 2nd little girl. Can we say ADORABLE?!

Mary's second - Jane. Also, DARLING!

Mary's husband Ben, babysat while us sisters went and got pedicures - thanks Ben! We realized at the end, that each of us, unknowingly, picked out colors that matched our purses! Laura even got a flower on her big toes, and her purse has flowers on it. So weird and funny! (p.s. Dave did not seem to think this story was quite as interesting as we all did...go figure.)

Lots of fun at a little water park.

Chillin.

After all the fun (and early mornings) I think this is how we all felt by the end of the week!
Thanks Robbins for letting us stay at your place! Thank you Mary for making so many yummy turkey sandwiches! Thank you Sammy for sharing your toys like a champ! Thank you Laura for driving up to see us everyday! Thank you Gwenn for teaching us your dance! Thank you Audrey and Jane for being adorable! And thank you Ben and Mason for putting up with 3 Webb girls altogether for a whole week! Spencer and I love you all! Oh, and thanks Dave for flying us out there! =)

Happy 4th of July!

I just wanted to wish everyone a happy 4th of July!

I am grateful to be an American. We really are lucky and blessed to live in this country! Let freedom ring, and let the fireworks begin!

Concerts

I'm feelin' pretty cool these days because I have been to 2 concerts just in the last month! And both with my pretty cool sistah, Alaina (who's up at BYU-Idaho right now). We went and saw No Doubt and Paramore at the end of May - who totally rocked our socks off! (should saying "rocked our socks off" negate the feelings of coolness I was having?) And then just a couple of weeks ago we saw Kelly Clarkson - who's awesomeness totally blew my mind! I love going to concerts where I can sing along to most, if not all of the songs, which was the case in both situations. But the best part of it all was hanging out with my little sis...awww...=).

Sistah, Sistah! The concert go-ers in action.
I seriously love No Doubt, and Paramore was awesome too...if you don't know Paramore you should check them out yo.

Ok, so Kelly sounded AMAZING! Better than on the radio, if that's even possible.

My super cool sister-in-law, Amanda, and Chloe (her fetus), came to see Kelly with us. So much fun!

There was a double rainbow at the Kelly concert.

2 of Alaina's roommates also came with us - I love a girls night!!

Spence LOVES his Aunt Alaina, and her duck lips...or whatever they're doing in this pic.

The cutest thing

We recently got Spencer a real bike. He loves it!! I had no idea before we got the bike that pretty much the cutest thing ever is a little kid riding his little bike! The little red helmet is like the icing on the cake!

I had to throw this silly picture in, just for fun!

Necessary Evil

Ugh...swimsuit shopping sucks. First of all, I think swimsuits are a necessary evil...I mean, I do NOT want to wear one, but I do want to go swimming. Secondly, they are too expensive. Thirdly, trying on swimsuits that do not fit or do not flatter is really bruising to the ego...more like devastating. Fourthly, like men, a good one is SO hard to find! "All the ladies who truly feel me, throw your hands up at me..." A few years ago I randomly found one at Target that I ended up loving and wore for like 5 years until one of the straps broke. Last year I bought one that I don't like, and so this year the search continues...

I looked around in stores, but most everything I saw were skank-inis (ha ha, I just made that up!), so I decided to shop online. (By the way, the "skank" in "skankini" was meant to elude to skanki bikinis...not necessarily tankinis, cause a lot of those are cute and modest. K, back to the story...) I ended up buying 6 swimsuits and 3 pairs of boardshorts (oh, how I love the boardshort) to try on, and I spent more than I care to share, hoping 1 would work. Nope, none of them did. I was super annoyed, and Dave did not understand why I would need to get 6 swimsuits...he was a little perturbed. Men do NOT understand what women go through to find a swimsuit. Anyway, I was back to the drawing board, and I found one at Macy's that was one size too big in the store, so I bought the next size down online, and I have decided that it is "the one." For now, at least...

It looks way better on the hanger than on me =).
Now I have to send everything else back...ugh...
On the bright side...Seven Peaks here I come! After it stops raining, that is. Ugh...(hee hee).
